The transformation of a Victorian seafront warehouse in Portslade into live/work units, a private residence and artists studios. Having been empty and semi-derelict for years the building had a long way to go to make it habitable, but equally we aimed not to lose the character of this robust industrial building.

Drawing inspiration from the goods yard below Open Practice used utilitarian materials to form carefully crafted surfaces and cabinetry elements. Rather than dividing the open space into a series of enclosed rooms we used felt and sheer curtain to suggest different areas of occupation.
